Retirement Relief

With the budget woes aplenty for our fair city, a surge in the number of retirements has provided an unexpected source of relief that’s helped stave off looming layoffs and given leaders a little more breathing room under the current budget.  My guess is that the City will be able to budget a little more for farewell cakes and gold Rolexes.  On second thought, maybe they should nix the Rolexes.

I’ll cheers to that, but not drink

After a long Memorial Day weekend spent relaxing in the sun (mainly), I know the one thing we would all love to hear about right now is drinking.  So here you go: The Examiner reports that the number of drinking related calls for the Fire Department have decreased over the past few years, thanks to Mayor Newsom’s plan as a Supervisor in 2003 to establish a task force to increase services for chronic drinkers.  So there you have it, now go drink some water and hydrate!
