Who’s going to “tabloid jail”?
Alright, no one. People Magazine and US Weekly won’t be subject to jail time for getting the truth wrong, but at one point Bay Area drivers that didn’t stay in their lane or skipped out on paying toll got more than a slap on the wrist and a hefty fine. The Chronicle reports that when the Bay Bridge opened in 1936, so did one of the smallest jails in the world. Bay Bridge bandits caught breaking the rules were tossed into a 6-foot-by-6-foot box with a bench. Guess the negative reinforcement worked, the teeny-tiny-jail only lasted a year.
