Letter From The Editor
In 1995, I had the idea that a centralized place for San Francisco political news would well serve the political junkies who populate our town. Since Suspects predated the web being generally available, I ran off the first edition as a blast fax, which soon evolved into an email-based communication, and shortly thereafter it landed on the Internet.
I eventually surrounded myself with colleagues at my company, Barbary Coast Consulting, who were smart and capable and on whom I could rely to assist in the oft-onerous task of waking up early and digesting and collecting all of the news of the day for Suspects readers. And after a few years, I realized that they may even be capable of steering the ship. In some of 2006 and in 2007, Jaime Salinas served as Editor in Chief of Suspects and Burnell Holland ran Suspects on a daily basis for all of 2008. In 2009, the job fell to Alexis Smith, and in 2010 and 2011, Libby Smiley ran things.
We’re adding people to the Barbary Coast roster, and until the changes are settled, I’ll be back in charge. (But those who know me know that delegation won’t take but a second - so expect a new EIC in January.)
As always, thanks for reading Suspects. We appreciate you stopping by.
- Alex Clemens
