The District Attorney files charges against former San Francisco Public Utilities Commission employees accused of defrauding the agency by steering taxpayer dollars toward their personal home improvements and working for their own company while on the PUC clock.
The Chronicle reports on a cadres of committed volunteers who successfully restored 16 horseshoe pitching courts in Golden Gate Park. How did they do it? Through sweat and assistance from the Recreation and Park Department and the Department of Public Works. Come fall, it’s tourney time!

The Chronicle reports on the ongoing debate between environmental groups and the City about whether to restore Hetch Hetchy to its natural state by demolishing the reservoir. All I can say is that San Francisco has some of the damn tastiest water West of the Mississippi, and the Yosemite-based water body also offers a gorgeous environment for backpackers. (Not really relevant to this debate, but it is so true!)
